Understanding Trauma in the Workplace: Why Trauma-Informed Practice is Essential

Did you know that up to 75% of Australians will experience at least one potentially traumatic event in their lives, and 2/3 of those events occur before the age of 16? This means that in any workplace, trauma could be silently affecting your employees, whether it’s their own individual trauma or that of colleagues, customers or clients.
Whether your team interacts with trauma-affected individuals directly—such as healthcare professionals—or indirectly—such as customer service, —the way we respond to trauma is crucial. Trauma can deeply affect working relationships and someone’s ability to perform their role.

How we respond to trauma can have a crucial role in our relationships and the possibility of trauma recovery.

Developed by our Senior Psychologist and Trauma expert, our Trauma Informed Practice training teaches participants about how trauma affects individuals, groups, and communities.
It offers a framework for how to engage with trauma-impacted people, that can be operationalised into specific actions and supporting documentation, in any workplace. It can make employees feel empowered to better assist others, workplaces more assured that they are taking appropriate actions for all individuals, and clients/customers feel more supported and understood.
