What is The Working Mind?
The Working Mind is an evidence-based workplace mental health training program designed to help organisations create psychologically safe and mentally healthy environments. Delivered by accredited facilitators, it equips employees and leaders with the skills to recognise early signs of mental health challenges, reduce stigma, and respond effectively in the workplace.
Developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada, The Working Mind is internationally recognised and widely adopted by organisations seeking practical, preventative approaches to mental health.

The program helps organisations to:
● Embed mental health conversations into daily operations
● Reduce stigma and barriers to care
● Build resilience using practical coping strategies
● Use the Mental Health Continuum Tool to spot wellbeing changes.
Participants will learn to:
● Recognise good, declining and poor mental health
● Understand mental health as a continuum
● Engage confidently in mental health conversations
● Identify stressors and apply the “Big 4” coping strategies
● (Managers only) Support team wellbeing and respond appropriately

Mental Health and Stigma
Examine what mental health means, address common myths, and understand how stigma impacts individuals and the workplace.
Mental Health Continuum & Awareness
Develop the ability to use the Mental Health Continuum to identify changes in wellbeing in yourself and others.
Stress, Resilience & Coping
Recognise stressors, explore their impact, and apply evidence-based coping strategies and self-care practices to build and maintain resilience.
Supporting Your Team (Managers only)
Tailored for supervisors and team leaders to foster psychologically safe workplaces, support individuals in distress, and respond effectively to critical incidents.

Who the training is for?
Employees
Employee training focuses on building shared understanding and practical skills that support individual and team wellbeing. Participants learn to:
● Understand mental health and wellbeing using a shared language
● Recognise early signs of mental health changes in themselves and others
● Use practical tools to manage stress and everyday pressures
● Reduce stigma and support respectful, open conversations
● Know when and how to seek support
Managers and leaders
Manager training includes all employee content, plus an additional focus on leadership responsibility and workplace support. Managers and leaders learn to:
● Recognise and respond to mental health changes in team members
● Have safe, supportive conversations about mental health
● Support people through challenges while maintaining boundaries
● Promote psychologically safe and mentally healthy teams
● Understand their role in early intervention and prevention
